Biochemist by training · Bioengineer by obsession
I started in biochemistry — then realised the most important questions live at the boundary of biology, physics, and engineering. I've spent nearly a decade at that boundary: building 3D disease models, integrating multi-omics with biomechanics, and pushing research into space to see what gravity hides. I built AI tools to accelerate that science and founded MatriXense to put them in researchers' hands. Now I'm taking it further — with Helixon, bringing that intelligence directly to you.
A peer-reviewed track record across mechanobiology, tissue engineering, immunology, and space biology — cited by researchers worldwide.
A microscope gives you images. A scientist needs data. When the tools to bridge that gap were missing, overpriced, or simply not good enough — I wrote the code myself, published the methods, and spun the whole thing into MatriXense. Today MatriXense delivers AI-powered bioimaging software to research labs — and expert consulting to design disease models that actually reflect biology.
Born from a lab course, refined through real research, and published in Acta Biomaterialia (2014). Topology Analyser converts raw microscopy images of biological tissue into precise, publication-ready measurements — pore sizes, fibre arrangement, density, structural patterns — in a fraction of the time manual methods take. Used in cancer, fibrosis, and wound healing research.
Built for my master's thesis to solve a problem nobody had solved: tracking immune cells moving freely through a 3D environment without labels or staining. CellDetection detects, follows, and analyses hundreds of cells simultaneously — speed, direction, distance, all calculated automatically. Published in Scientific Reports. Now a commercial tool through MatriXense.
The Hidden Forces That Shape Every Living Thing
Your cells are under constant physical pressure — and how they respond to it determines whether you heal, age well, or get sick. This is mechanobiology: the frontier field quietly reshaping medicine. Written by a scientist who lives inside this research every day — translated into a story anyone can follow. No jargon. No PhD required. Just the science that finally explains how your body really works.
As a biochemist, I had access to my own blood tests, ECG, genetic data, wearables — and I still couldn't make sense of the full picture. Everything lived in a different app, a different report, a different format. None of it talked to each other. If I was struggling with this, everyone was. So I built Helixon — an AI that pulls it all together and finally tells you what's actually going on with your body. In plain language. No medical degree required.
Research collaborations, MatriXense partnerships, Helixon, speaking, or just a good conversation about biology. I read every email — and I reply.
